John Carey – Member

John brings decades of experience in community development and stakeholder engagement, and has a strong track record of building relationships to achieve positive business and community outcomes.
Currently the Future Partnerships Manager with energy company Stanwell Corporation, John’s career has also spanned banking, finance, state and local government sectors.
His previous roles have included leading, training and developing contact centre teams at Brisbane City Council, community and economic development for the then Rosalie Shire Council, and community and Indigenous relations for Stanwell.
John has a long history of working with rural communities at grassroots level, coupling his strategic and innovative skills with a genuine care for people and a drive to help communities have better futures.
He is a director and deputy chair of Red Earth Community Foundation, and played a key role in bringing “Red Pitch” to the South Burnett region – a live crowd-funding event that raised close to $10,000 for two not-for-profit projects in its first outing.
John is also a marriage celebrant and has helped hundreds of couples prepare for their special day.
